International Day Against Homophobia In Pictou
- 7pm Flag Raising & March Water Street, Pictou. The Flag Raising has been approved by the Town of Pictou. It is only two blocks away from the County Council Building. We are inviting guest speakers from the the affected communities. Also confirmed on the Speakers List to date is Pictou County Councillor David Parker. After the Flag Raising and speeches, we will be marching an additional Pride Flag up to the Pictou County Council Building.
- 8pm Town Hall Meeting Pictou Fire Hall, Church Street. Pride of Pictou County is hosting this meeting of the minds in order to establish a steering committee on combating this issue. It is our sincere hope that we have representation from all Pride organizations in Nova Scotia as well as all of our sister organizations. It is important that we all band together to fight the growing trend once and for all. We are also looking for free legal advice for this meeting to advise us all on the best approach to take. If anyone has any contacts that we could approach, please let us know asap.
- 10pm-2am Pride of Pictou County Pictou Fire Hall, Church Street. 19+ only We couldn't possibly ask everyone to come all this way without rolling out the welcome mat. Any of our guests that are traveling to attend the activities will be admitted free of charge to the dance. This should be a wonderful networking opportunity as well as a chance to get to know our friends in Pride. There are several motels, inns etc.. within walking distance of the Fire Hall. Come for the Rally and stay for the good company.
Halifax
- 3:00pm - 4:30pm YouthProject will be premiering the PSA film "Homophobia Affects Everyone" written and directed by students from Gay Straight Alliances in HRM. This PSA will be distributed to schools across the province and highlights the importance of addressing homophobia in schools. The PSA stars several local GSA students, the Halifax police, a teacher, administrator, health nurse and parent as well as Lindsay Willow. A reception will follow. Show your support!
