Moved from ReligionLinks

Someone writes in mid 2003: you have explained many a time that God does not exist. why invite your people to go here just because everyone in the building is gay or most are. or maybe you go to pick up people. "See you there!" - FUCKOFF

Someone responds: What do you mean? There are many people who edit this site, a few of whom have chosen to list themselves on GayHalifax. The editors have different beliefs, preferences, and faiths. Why do you feel the need to use foul language on a page telling people about a Christian Church? Would you be as vulgar when talking about a Temple, Kingdom Hall, or Mosque?

Dan responds: just as some str8 guys are afraid of gays, some gay guys are afraid of Christianity or organized religion in general. Lots aren't afraid, some of those go to traditional churches, some go to SafeHarbourChurch. And to answer the question just above, the answer is probably "yes." :-)

About the Anglican church: From a Fall, 2003 letter to the editor in a Tennessee newspaper: The actions taken by the New Hampshire Episcopalians [in allowing the ordination of an openly gay bishop] are an affront to Christians everywhere. I am just thankful that the church's founder, Henry VIII, and his wife Catherine of Aragon, and his wife Anne Boleyn, and his wife Jane Seymour, and his wife Anne of Cleves, and his wife Katherine Howard, and his wife Catherine Parr are no longer here to suffer through this assault on traditional Christian marriage.

Queah responds: Brian O'Neill, PhD?, appears to have swiped those words from the original author, Owen Keavney, in his letter to the editor of the Los Angeles Times. Henry VIII was not the founder of the Episcopal Church. That was fun! Can we plagiarise and rewrite history some more?

A public announcement from vassiton@yahoo.com :

I will get straight to the point. This entire controversy of homosexuality exists solely because of a basic lack of understanding of Man and his basic purposes and goals. The argument that homosexuality is not a choice and that homosexuals are equal to, say, blacks (slavery) or women (suffrage) is a lie. Just because you don't remember choosing proves nothing. Do you remember every choice you ever made; particularly the ones for which you didn't want to take responsibility? I'm not trying to make you wrong. In fact, knowing that there is a road out of this mess is a relief. You don't have to be gay. My saddest day was when I realized that I had no choice- I was gay, period. Once I discovered how to get back to my basic goals, it was the happiest day of my life. You don't have to be gay. You DO have to use a workable technology. All these confusions about Mankind have been propagated by psychiatry (a complete and provable fraud: http://www.cchr.org ) so its no surprise that people are in such a mess.

Basically, the confusion is that you have been taught that you are an animal who has never been anyone before this life. If you had been going along just fine in female bodies for the last million years and suddenly you find yourself stuck in a male body, and DIDN'T REMEMBER IT, all those appropriate feelings you had as a woman would confuse you; until you had an explanation for it: GAY. I suppose if you believe that you are that slab of meat sitting in that chair then you might think, "How could I have existed before my body was made?" I am not going to argue the existence of the spirit, you can make up your own mind about that. I am simply letting you know that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE GAY. There is a road out: http://www.smi.org/route/page10.htm and look up the confusion formula of the ethics conditions: http://www.smi.org/route/page49.htm

Finally, the purpose of Marriage is Creation. The only thing homosexuals create are make-overs and really good broadway shows. : ) No, really, producing healthy, happy children to continue the human race is the primary creation of marriage. Incredible sex is just a bonus. Just because many fail at marriage just indicates a lack of workable technology in that area - (e.g. any church or counselor that uses psychiatry).

This message is part of my own application of the condition formulas. I am no longer gay. I choose to join the (sexual) group that promotes the survival of the Human Race the most: heterosexuals who want to create a stable family.

Sorry, Bucko. If the purpose of marriage were procreation, sterility would be grounds for divorce or annulment, and sterile people would not be permitted to marry. In the western world, this is not the case.

Ok... I won't bite on the obvious bait dangling in front of me. I won't go on about all the gay parents out there, or all of the other creative things that come from within the community. I won't even elaborate on the studies about better survival for those having "extended parenting groups" (facilitated by parents gay siblings) Instead, I'll pick up the thing that usually goes ignored.

IF it was a CHOICE for YOU, then chances are, you aren't GAY or Straight. Yes, there is a third possibility, you may be BISEXUAL and have selected a partner of the other gender intentionally, rather than just going with whatever works. To paraphrase a certain lawyer, "IF THE PLUMBING DON"T FIT, YOU WON"T COMMIT!"

I'm amazed when I hear of all the people on the anti-gay side of things talking about how it's a choice -- for them, it may very well have been one. Find me someone who is 100% purely heterosexual, and I doubt they would honestly be able to call it a choice, in the same way that a 100% homosexual person would know that they didn't choose, they werent' even given a menu. If it is a choice for you, it's because you were given a chance to choose, then good for you, but not everyone falls into this category.

So, is it a choice? Yes, for some, No for others. Both sides are sort of right. I am gay not by choice but by birth and I am proud Just as you were born Heterosexual . Some Bi. But we are all God children
