The Queer Week Starts On Friday

Fridays

; 10.30 a.m. to noon: CKDU 88.1fm Halifax, "Over the Rainbow" with Denise Holliday, Guest Hosts and unscheduled guests. Listen in/Call in it is your option. Send/bring your news and activities to be announced. Phone in chats from as far away as San Francisco, New York, Australia, England and of course Canada. Listen in on-line at ckdu.ca "Every Friday." Contributors welcome! "Together we, the Rainbow Community, can change the world."

; 11 p.m.: GuerillaGayFare events - fourth Friday night of the month

Saturdays

; 9 a.m.: HalifaxFrontRunners - runners begin at 9:30am, walkers at 9:00am, beginning from the main gates of Halifax Public Gardens, corner of Spring Garden Road and South Park Street. Distance: 7kms. After-run gathering at The Daily Grind, 5686 Spring Garden Road.

Sundays

; 9 a.m.: BedfordUnitedChurch (1200 Bedford Highway) - We are an Affirming Congregation and welcome everyone. Services at 9 am (Casual & Contemporary) and 11 am (Quieter & Traditional). For more info, call 835-8497.

; 10.30 a.m.: UniversalistUnitarianChurch: Lay-led service. We are a Welcoming Congregation, aiming to help each person in their search for truth and meaning.

; 10.30 to 11.30 a.m.: Halifax Friends Meeting (Quakers) - Quakerism emphasizes that we all manifest the Divine. Services are held at Atlantic School of Theology Library (640 Franklyn Street). Please use the car port entrance.

SafeHarbourChurch ; 11 a.m.: SafeHarbourChurch worships at VeithHouse (3115 Veith St. Halifax). We are an inclusive Christian Community promoting inclusivity,spiritual growth and social justice. Join us for informal contemporary worship. All are Welcome!

; 12.30 to 1.30 p.m.: KoinoniaChurch Service @ Petrie's Halifax Feast (corner of Barrington & Salter Street)

; 4 to 6 p.m.: CentreOfHope, Halifax. Looking for somewhere new to experience spirituality? Check us out. We offer a welcoming non judgemental environment. No walls... come as YOU are. We meet each Sunday from 4-6 PM at the Dalhousie Women's Center located at 6286 South Street (next to Dalplex) Hope to see you there!

; 6 to 7 p.m.: BLT-Womyn Bi-sexual, Lesbian, Transgendered womyn meeting every second Sunday evening.

Mondays

; 5 to 6.30 p.m.: DalWomensCentre Women's Club 6286 South St. 494.2432. Open to all women, including trans women. Come to the DWC to learn about, share, and discuss your and other women's concerns, thoughts, and joys.

; 6.30 p.m.: "Usually" second Monday of the month, WayvesMagazine production meeting, new writers and volunteers welcome. Check http://wayves.ca/ "Production Calendar" item for exact dates.

; 6.30 to 8.30 p.m.: TransFamilyNovaScotia meetings -third Monday of every month at the YouthProject (2281 Brunswick St.)

; 8 p.m.: Alcoholics Anonymous, Halifax: Live & Let Live AA Group for GLBT community. Meetings are held at St Matthews Church (1479 Barrington St, Halifax). Use side door near Maritime Centre at bottom of stairs.

; 8 to 10 p.m.: Menz Trivia Oblivia at MenzBar. A weekly trivia event, featuring eight rounds of questions covering everything from Molecular Biology to Madonna. Music rounds, picture rounds and prizes prizes prizes!

Tuesdays

; 6 p.m.: HalifaxFrontRunners - beginning from the main gates of the Halifax Public Gardens, corner of Spring Garden Road and South Park Street. Distance: 10-12 kms (with options for shorter and longer runs, depending on the day and the group).

; 6 to 9 p.m.: YouthProject Drop-in night - first, third, and fifth Tuesdays of every month (when there is a fifth Tuesday).

This is an unstructured event. It's a chance to hang out with old friends, make some new ones, and just talk about whatever.

; 7 to 9 p.m.: YouthProject Group meetings - second and fourth Tuesdays of every month.

This is a structured environment, with facilitators present to keep discussions on track, while at the same time helping to lead the discussion in the directions that the youth wish to go, as well as making sure the group guidelines are enforced. The discussions focus on the youth present having a say, rather than the facilitators lecturing about whatever topic is being discussed.

; 7 p.m.: Second and last Tuesday of the month - Women's Pool night at Locas (5430 Doyle St.). See facebook group for more info.

; Third Tuesday: OutAtTheMovies movie outing at Park Lane; details can be found at http://halifax-out-movies.blogspot.com/

Wednesdays

; 12.30 p.m.: DalWomensCentre Wellness Group Potluck @ 6286 South St. 494.2432. Open to everyone. Join the DWG with your lunch for healthy food and discussion with other friendly, wellness-minded folks.

; 6.15 p.m: DalWomensCentre Circle of Rhythm 6286 South St. 494.2432. $6/session, drumming and music circle - call first to reserve a space.

; 7 to 9 p.m.: FirstPersonQueerDiscussion Group at UniversalistUnitarianChurch. Discuss your personal journey on integrating your sexuality into everyday life and spiritual community. Please note - a copy of First Person Queer: Who We Are (So Far) is required.

First and third Wednesday; starting October 7th

; 8 to 11 p.m.: BoMcNeil? on Stage @ MenzBar - Every second Thursday of the monthy. An evening with the talented songmaster "BoMcNeil?." Come hear Bo sing all your favorites! Cover: $5. Door prizes given away each night. 60 oz Pitcher of Draught only $13.50, Taquila Shooters $3.75 and our $2.50 SHOOTERS all night long.
