In 2019, Dr JacquieGahagan coordinated a project by the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors & DalhousieUniversity to create an LGBT Archives for Nova Scotia.

In April, 2019, the AtlanticHistoryAndArchivesNetwork "Board" (quotes used because the organization had never been formalized into a registered Society) met with Dal Archivist Michael Moosberger, and later met again and agreed that Dal would be a good host for the archives.

The purpose of this collaborative community project is to develop a digitized and publicly accessible archive of the LGBT Community in Nova Scotia.

The 2-year initial project will build capacity in the entire community to develop an archive of the LGBT communities across Nova Scotia which will both increase social interaction and community involvement among older populations and will also create a living legacy through the collaborative development of an open, accessible, province-wide digital archive for use by community members, seniors, older and younger generations of LGBT populations, researchers and students, the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors, among others.

As of May 1, 2019, the LGBT Archives doesn't have a website yet.

If you have LGBT Community related materials you'd like to contribute to the Archives, or know someone who does, or want to be involved with the project in any way, email .
