Application Deadline: DaPoPo? Theatre's Acting Out! - Theatre Workshop for Queer Youth
Presented by DaPoPo? Theatre, Acting Out! is a two-week intensive workshop in theatre and performance for youth age 16-21 who identify with a queer ("other") perspective. Top local educators Garry Williams and Richie Wilcox will present skill-building workshops in multiple disciplines, including: acting, voice, movement, political theatre, improvisation, singing, dance and physical theatre. All genders, orientations and perspectives will be welcome. Acting Out! runs June 8-10 and 15-17, 2012 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Workshop participants will be invited to continue with the second phase of Acting Out! from June to July; working with Acting Out mentors to develop an original work which will be showcased in Halifax, July 19-21, as part of the Queer Acts Theatre Festival during Halifax Pride Week. Application Deadline is May 21,2012. Tuition is $225, and scholarships are available for youth who require financial assistance. YouthProject Strike Out Homophobia Bowlathon at Fairlanes Bowling, Halifax Shopping Centre
A fundraiser for the YouthProject's Education Services and their efforts to combat homophobia and transphobia in schools.
All proceeds go towards keeping The Youth Project, our partners and a great LGBTQ resource, up and running. The Youth Project is facing cuts to their educational services section, a fantastic initiative that goes into schools to talk to kids about homophobia and transphobia, works with school boards to make our schools safer and more inclusive, and offers training and professional development workshops to many organizations (including Dalhousie) across the province.
Ways you can get involved: 1. We still have room for two bowlers. If you'd like to sign up to be on the team, email peerally@dal.ca. 2. Pledge our team. HalifaxPride will take the city by storm July 20th to 29th, as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary. The Halifax Pride Guide is viewed by thousands and is distributed across Canada and eastern USA – and new this year will also be published in on Halifaxpride.com and other partner’s sites.
If you are a community group or organization who would like to have your event added to the Halifax Pride Guide calendar, under community events, please send the following:
1. Name of Event
2. Name of Group or organization hosting
3. Date and Time (start and finish)
4. Location
5. Cost
You may also include a short description of your (20 words or less).
All submissions must be sent to eric@halifaxpride.com by June 5th 2012, for consideration.

Meet at Ferry Terminal Park (next to Alderney Landing) at 6:30 and look for the rainbow flag. After a brief round of introductions, this happy little group of cyclists will cycle to Shubie Park and back; just over an hour's worth of riding. Refreshments and merriment will follow at Celtic Corner.

This is an unstructured event. It's a chance to hang out with old friends, make some new ones, and just talk about whatever.

This is a structured environment, with facilitators present to keep discussions on track, while at the same time helping to lead the discussion in the directions that the youth wish to go, as well as making sure the group guidelines are enforced. The discussions focus on the youth present having a say, rather than the facilitators lecturing about whatever topic is being discussed.
