Ms. Julie's New Orleans Style Mardi Gras

Come on down and taste our Southern food, straight from New Orleans.

Try a new drink, like a Hurricane, Sazerrac, Absinthe, New Orleans, or a Bloody Mary.

Listen to Live Jazz, dance to Live Soul / R&B, wear a mask, throw some beads, have a good time…

Music starts promptly at 7pm, don’t miss it!

The New Bridge is a 5 piece Jazz band that features members from Gypsophila, and will start promptly at 7pm to provide music to let you mingle and sample the flavours of the South.

The Mellotones will then take the stage at 9:30pm to kick it up a notch and provide some soul, funk, and R&B to dance to.

Finally, we’ll take the music up to today, and finish out the night with your favourite dance tunes so you can end your night here, or prep for a late insertion into Halifax’s downtown.

Drink and food menus are available at http://msjulie.ca/drink-and-food-menu/

We will give the first 200 people who show beads or masks or hats. We will have a limited selection on sale for everyone, check here for info and to pre-order a mask to match your outfit.

ElderBerries Lecture & Social: Dying, Death and Grief
Roy Ellis, Bereavement Coordinator Nova Scotia Health Authority, and pastor to the LGBT community during the 1980s AIDS crisis, will be joining us to facilitate a conversation, answer questions, and offer some thoughts on death and dying in the time of industrialized medicine and within a culture of thanatophobia (fear of death).
A pot luck social will accompany the session. Please bring anything you like to make, and eat - salad, sandwiches, meatballs, cookies, finger food, mixed nuts, anything.
At The Northwood Penthouse, 2615 Northwood Terrace. Admission: free. All welcome.
