Someone asks: can someone help me, how do i get an AIDS test and is there any benefit to getting it annon? i need help, thanks
CapnDan responds: the most efficient place to get tested (and get the counselling that goes along with it) is the SexualHealthCentre. Many people are initially afraid of the consequences of disclosure of a positive HIV status, and are more willing to go to an anonymous clinic than to their GP, who cannot guarantee anonymous testing in Halifax (ask him or her if you're concerned.)
Other places to get tested anonymously:
- Mainline Needle Exchange, 5511 Cornwallis St, Halifax, 902-423-9991
- Phoenix Center for Youth, 6035 Coburg Rd, Halifax, 902-420-0676
- Atlantic First Nations Task Force on AIDS, 2164 Gottingen St, Halifax, 902-492-4255
- AidsCoalition
Non-anonymous testing for STIs is available at the StdClinic.
