RainbowPlaytime

A Play Group for Queer Families!

Second Sunday of each month, 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Board Room (Play Room) at Needham Community Recreation Centre, 3372 Devonshire Street (in the north end of Halifax, near the intersection of Duffus and Novalea, served by bus routes 7 & 9.)

Bring a snack for your child(ren). We will be collecting money from each family to cover the cost of the room rental. Depending on the number of families attending, it will likely be between $2 and $4 per week. Carrie Melsom, an early childhood educator, will attend the group to help organize and facilitate age-appropriate games and activities for the children.

All GTLB families with children six and under are welcome to attend. Babies and expectant parents are welcome too! Needham has a swimming pool; there is an open swim from 2:00 to 3:30, and a family swim from 5:30 to 6:30. For info on swim fees, phone Needham at 490-4633.

This is a new group, and any ideas and suggestions are encouraged. It is not sponsored by any formal organization and is intended to be parent-run. We are going to apply for a Neighborhood Grant through the United Way, in the hopes of having the cost of room rental and special activity costs covered. For the purpose of the grant application, we will be calling ourselves Rainbow Playtime. As we evolve, we can decide if we like that name or if there is a better suggestion.

Please pass on this information to any and all queer parents of young children. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 422-8780 or email lynnmacdonald@hfx.eastlink.ca See you then!! Lynn MacDonald?
