OutFest - Bad Poetry: Live in Halifax! by Sara Porter Productions
Part lecture-demonstration, part contemporary dance performance, part Queer clown turn, “Bad Poetry: Live in Halifax!” is a testament to how loving one's own bad poetry can lead to self acceptance. Created and performed by professional improvisers, this show will grant you the license to fly by the seat of your pants.
Bad Poetry: It's a dance piece. It's a support group. It's a world view. Sara Porter Productions gratefully acknowledges generous donations from The KM Hunter Foundation, The Lindy Green Family Foundation, and Toronto Arts Council in support of this production
A modern love story versus the snowstorm of the century. Late January 2020, the City of St. John's issues a state of emergency during Snowmaggedon. Inside their basement apartment, long-term couple Abe and Samson are in the midst of their own storm. They battle Canada's alleged well-regulated immigration system & each other, while their seaside town is relentlessly pummeled. As the snowdrifts grow, the storm rages on both out in the world & inside their home. Can they find a way through the tempest together? Will love be enough? A tender, loving, romantic drama oozing with heart-felt comedy.
Casey & Diana (A handshake that changed the world)
In 1991, at the height of the AIDS crisis, the residents of Casey House - Toronto's first free-standing AIDS Hospice - receive word that the Princess of Wales is coming to visit. This potent and moving drama by Nick Green, vividly captures a moment in time when a rebel Princess, alongside fearless caregivers and advocates, reshaped the course of a pandemic—and how those stricken by the virus found hard-won dignity, community and love in the face of astonishing hardship.
Welcome to BFFtv, the only broadcast network that follows the nail-biting and soul-destroying competition of female friendship! We’re your hosts, Tim Mann and Steve Guy, and tonight we’re continuing to track the career of one Meg “Panic Attack” Warren in her final showdown against fan-favourite Blair “Chaotic Bisexual” Turner. This match is not one to miss, folks! There will be overanalyzed text messages, drunk girl conversations, and (maybe) even sexual tension. And one thing is for sure, there is no possibility that either competitor will make it out of this unscathed. On your marks, get set, go!
An exploration, an installation, a performance that asks about our relationship with the weather in all its banality and terror and comfort. Created and Performed by: Coral Maloney and Colleen Arcturus MacIsaac.
Join Page1Theatre for our closing night Music Stage with performances from Pillow Fite and Freya Milliken! Between sets, we will also announce the Festival Awards! Space is limited so grab your tickets in advance!
