HEIST Takeovers
So, what's a takeover?
- HEIST Takeovers are pop-up queer party events serving to manifest our core values into space and time.
HEIST aims to create vibrant anti-colonial spaces where creativity and identities are authentically nourished, celebrated and affirmed. Through the art of hosting and joy-making, we want to deepen people's relationship to HEIST and each other.
These ephemeral Takeover spaces are queerly playful, with genre/gender bending at heart.
Takeovers typically include:
- Hosting by Princess Edward and Abel T. Suckizone
- Showcasing of playful gender/drag performances
- Music and dancing
- Games *such as our famous Lip Sync Roulette)
- Partnership engagement through prizes / moments centred on celebration and community recognition.
The Team
Takeover Team members are invited to volunteer in the area(s) they feel drawn to:
- Space Creators: venue research, decor, access, design & flow
- Technical Magicians: sound, lights, projection
- Nourishers: hospitality, front of house, art of hosting
- Boosters: day-of volunteers, stage kittens, runners, etc
- Relationship Builders: liason with partners for prizes, money, venues, help etc
The Takeover Team will be shown appreciation through various parkes, including free and discounted tickets to HEIST events, exclusive team t-shirts, and more!
