Halifax Mussels LGBTQ and Straight Allies Hockey

Halifax Mussels is a beginner to intermediate LGBTQ and Straight Allies hockey team / league in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

For Fall 2023:

Each night consists of 22 one-hour skates. Registration includes insurance, social events, prizes and end of season party!
Sunday is our Learn to Play / Skills & Drills night: coached group sessions and shinny for folks who are new to hockey or looking to build their hockey skills.
Thursday is our faster game night - this is suitable for folks with some hockey experience.
Saturday is our beginner friendly game nights - this is a great game for folks who are newer to hockey or who enjoy a slower paced game.

: The Halifax Mussels is the only LGBTQ+ hockey league east of Montreal. We create a safe space for EVERYONE at any skill level from first time on skates and up to play the game they have likely been too intimidated to try because of the historic culture of masculinity in the sport. We are changing that.
: We have been approaching LGBTQ owned and supportive businesses in HRM looking for small sponsorship support and have had absolutely no interest, response or uptake.
: Hockey is expensive. Now that we have created a safe space for our community to enjoy this sport, our only barrier is financial. We need financial support to grow our league and make it accessable to more members of our community. Similar leagues in other cities have significant corporate sponsorship.
: I'd like to challenge our community to step up and support this first for Halifax. We need both in-kind and financial support. Please, if you are a business owner, consider supporting this unique, worthwhile endeavor in our community.
