- Lisa is believed to be the first genderqueer MLA elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, and uses both they/them and she/her pronouns. Lisa and partner Heather were one of the first couples married in Canada upon the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2003. They have two children; Jason, 18, and Keira, 15, and are longtime residents of Halifax/Kjipuktuk.
