Lisa Lachance is the MLA for Halifax Citadel--Sable Island. They are the critic for 2SLGBTQ+ Affairs, L’nu Affairs, Mental Health and Addictions, Agriculture, Acadian Affairs, Advanced Education, Communications Nova Scotia, and Finance. Lisa was first elected to the House of Assembly in 2021.
Lisa is believed to be the first genderqueer MLA elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, and uses both they/them and she/her pronouns. Lisa and partner Heather were one of the first couples married in Canada upon the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2003. They have two children; Jason, 18, and Keira, 15, and are longtime residents of Halifax/Kjipuktuk.
