In August, 2018, the Facebook group, Halifax Queer Exchange compiled a list of trans friendly businesses.
- Radical Roots Market is a predominantly queer run food co-operative addressing food security in Halifax. We do some urban garden initiatives and group buys of local produce to bring wholesale prices to the people. Always looking for members, perks include marked down prices on purhased goods, access to our own produce for free, and decision making opportunities at our monthly meetings.
- Sky's sudsational pet grooming queer owned and operated and we offer a 25% discount to members of the lgbt+
- I’ve heard nothing but excellent things about the queer-run coop Glitter Bean Café. Yet to have a chance to visit myself but lgbt+ friends whose opinions I value have said good things.
- Cape & Cowl Comics & Collectibles in Sackville is a trans-owned business and legitimately amazing - great space for kids, awesome inventory, not pushy or judgy at all. You won’t feel awkward over not knowing a lot about comics. The community outreach this place works to perform is incredible, you can find locally made items here, just go. Totally worth the drive from the city.
- Oddfellows Barbershop, Joel
- Inlet Communications. We offer branding & graphic design, web design, project communications coordination, and social media management services. We have also done some prop-making and special promotions. We are located outside the city (Musquodoboit Harbour) but are able to meet clients in their own space so transportation/accessibility is not a barrier.
- Artfulbees Photography, and I’m open to shooting basically anything. I’m located in Dartmouth but am fully able to travel within the HRM.
- The Motley Merchants' Guild is my baby! We make all kinds of jewelry and shiny bits and bobs, along with lots of nerdy stuff.
- queer cis femme offering hand-poked (stick and poke) tattoos. I'm relatively new to the game, so right now I'm doing it for traded services/goods (try me!) - or a small amount of money (PWYC) to go towards tattooing supplies. I work out of my home (Fairview), or, my kit is mobile and I can possibly come to you. I have my bloodborne pathogens certification, and use sterile one-use disposable needles. I'll make you tea and do my very best to make you feel welcome :) My work can be seen at: www.instagram.com/_kelly_poked_it_
- I highly recommend the following queer handpoke artist (she's given me 4 or 5 and I'm going back for more after swimming season haha): www.instagram.com/sophie_handpoke/
