2010 Menz Bar Robberies

A suspect, armed with a knife, demanded money from a MenzBar employee just after 11:30 p.m. After receiving the cash, he fled the bar on foot. The suspect is described as a heavyset black man, 35 to 40 years old, about six-feet tall and weighing 230 to 260 pounds. He was wearing a white hooded jacket, dark pants and a dark scarf over his face.

A patron was assaulted in the washroom, two men were robbed at knifepoint inside the bar, and after fleeing the building, the two men robbed another two men and a woman on the street outside and ran away, police said. Officers arrested two suspects on nearby Maitland Street after a short chase on foot, and recovered all of the items stolen in the robberies. Brandon Upshaw, 32, of Panuke Road in Three Mile Plains, Hants County, and Jason Daniel Boudreau, 26, of Gristmill Court in Halifax are both charged with five counts of robbery and two counts of assault. Mr. Upshaw is also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and committing an indecent act in a public place. Mr. Boudreau faces two additional counts of breaching probation.
