The show entitled the ‘Playgrounds of the Faerie’ allows the realms of man and faerie and the worlds of photography and fine art to mingle, creating magical and mystifying glimpses into the hidden existence of these bewitching creatures.
The playfully gay and sensual nature of the Faerie is captured by the photography of PhillipJoy? and the drawings of Maritza Miari. From catching a nap on a teddy bear to playing tricks on humans these faeries find endless ways to amuse themselves.
This photography project will relate a story in which the viewer is given a gift to view, through the camera lens, the Fay - teasers with capricious amorous natures that are known to use our world as their playground. Magical creatures of light, color, energy, and love they hide in the everyday objects of our existence enjoying the enchantment of our physical realm and sometimes playing mischievous harmless tricks on humans.
Phillip Joy is a local artist, using the media of photography. Self taught his work has won several awards and is regularly featured in Viewpoint Gallery. His work typically focuses on glamour, fantasy, and spontaneous portraits, cityscapes, travel, and the abstract and is a means to explore the secret lives of people; the untold journeys of the human experience, a way to explore a different reality, become something else or see things from a different perspective. The mystique of his images allows the viewer to imagine a hundred different scenarios and feel just as many emotions.
Maritza Miari is an award-winning designer and artist with over 17 years of international experience, including Cuba, Spain and Canada. Working directly with clients she manages projects from initial conception to final publication. She has a vast experience as designer and illustrator, mixing her art skills with the design line. Her work is placed in public spaces and private spaces in Cuba, Canada, Ireland, Dominican Republic, and Spain. She has participated in sole and collective exhibitions and projects and has been in charge of publicity campaigns, global corporate and beyond.
