Trans Day of Remembrance is a solemn occasion dedicated to mourning, commemorating, and paying tribute to the individuals we have lost as a result of anti-trans violence and systemic discrimination. At Power House, we are committed to honoring this day by uplifting, celebrating, and safeguarding the futures of trans youth.
We will be making small paintings with messages of affirmation that can be kept, shared, or left in meaningful places. All art materials, snacks, and drinks provided. Details via Instagram.
This drop-in program is FREE for all youth 16-24 and does not require registration.
Location: Power House Youth Centre, 1606 Bell Road
5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A Sacred Space for Trans Day of Remembrance 🏳️⚧️
Join us for a time of ritual and reflection on the spirituality of transness, memorializing the sisters and siblings who have come before, and drawing strength for the struggle ahead. This is an open space for any faith or none, offered by a transfeminine United Church ministry candidate (Tamsin Robson) and a Two-Spirit Mi'kmaw artist (Alexa St. Pierre-Farrow).
Location: Former Art Bar (FAB), 1873 Granville Street
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
TDOR Read Aloud
💌 In hopes that we can offer a needed space, we are inviting Two-Spirit and trans folks aged 16-30 to our TDOR Read Aloud.
📚We invite community members to bring an excerpt from their favourite short essay, poem, song, article, video game, by a trans/queer person to read to the group. Possible themes include but are not limited to: trans excellence, gender euphoria, themes of visibility, trans rage/trans love, chosen family, and future building. It’s also ok to just come to listen and be in space with us, there’s no pressure to read! This event is inspired by Marshall Haywood’s beautiful Reading Out Loud event that has deeply moved and inspired us over many years.
✨This is a closed space for Two-Spirit and trans people ages 16-30
