✨Felted Stim Toys an Accessibility Futurisms Program ✨
Come make felted stim toys with us!
The Youth Project and Queer Creatives Space is hosting a stim toy making workshop at Wonder’neath. This workshop will teach participants felting techniques to make stim toys. We’re hoping that this workshop will instill feelings of joy towards stimming, while challenging feelings of shame. We feel this workshop is important, as neurodiverse and Disabled youth are often taught to feel shame in relation to stimming. Engaging with stim toys can be a joyful experience though, in both their use and the practice of making them. For those that don’t use stim toys, you’re still welcome to make one, as they make great gifts!
This event is a closed space for 2SLGBTQIAP+ Disabled youth between the ages of 14 to 30. Self-IDing is more than enough to access this space/ you don’t need a formal diagnosis. Questioning folks are more than welcome.
This is a masked required event, with a preference of KN94, KN95, N95, or better. Medical grade masks are acceptable, for those that face access barriers with higher quality masks. Masks can/ will be provided.
This event is free, wheelchair accessible, and will have ASL interpretation. There will also be a low sensory room, and a corsi-rosenthal box onsite. The Youth Project will be providing snacks and stim toys. Wonder’neath/ @wonderneath has a detailed access guide for their space, which you can find via the provided link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YZ_kwlMHohsC4yPBzZm6lhvE9rIN2WcF7-RRSDBFYko/edit
