Justice of the Peace (JOP) for all of Nova Scotia.
I have been a JOP since 2022. This is something I have always wanted to do, and I was thrilled to finally get the call.
I have done beach weddings, park weddings, and apartment weddings so far. I would love to do theme weddings or anything you envision for your special day. My wedding was actually a Dr. Who wedding. It was so much fun. So layed back and filled with laughter. That is what I hope for everyone on their special day. It may sound cliché, but I love love.
My name is Wendy Burns. I am outgoing and enjoy life.
The past few years, things have been tough in our province, so anything I can do to make people laugh or at least smile, I will always try to do.
I work for the government and live in Halifax with my wife. I have been a part of the LBGTQIA2S+ community since the 80's.
For about 15 years, I have dreamt of being a JOP. Actually, when marriage became a legal reality for the LGBTQIA2S+ community here in NS, I knew I wanted and needed to be a part of helping people in our community FINALLY live their dream of marrying the person they chose to be with.
By officiating civil unions, I get to be a part of something very personal, beautiful, and meaningful. I feel honored and blessed to have this opportunity to be of service to others, and I carry those feelings with me through my life.
I waited a long time on a long list until I got the call. It was worth the wait. I have been truly enjoying officiating.
If you are looking for a fun, layed back ceremony, I would be honored to help make that your reality. I am here for you. I work for you. I will write a personalized ceremony and give you a copy to keep forever.
Whether I am lucky enough to officiate for you or not, I want to say congratulations on your upcoming wedding. May you have many years filled with love, laughter, peace, and happiness. The world needs more of that.
