1999 Pride Parade Marshall Tinky Winky

In 1999, TV evangelist declared that Tinky Winky, a character from the very young childrens' TV show, Teletubbies was gay and was part of a grand recruitment strategy. In a very cheeky response, Halifiax Pride made Tinky Winky the Parade Marshall for that year, and RossBoutilier got the Tinky Winky costume made.1

Ross says, "I was disappointed in the end with the costume creator because everything was fine except they would not do any semblance of the face."

The costume is not mentioned or shown in the July/August 1999 GAEZETTE.
