Queer Creatives Space Zine Making
This Sunday we’ll be delving into some zine making fun with Queer Creatives Space. Zines have an interesting history that often overlap with queer culture. Zines also often act as more accessible and affordable methods of self publishing and dispersing work. We’re really excited to see what folks come up with. Please share and mention this session to your friends
This session will take place at 2482 Maynard Street Halifax in Wonder’neath’s Project Room (access note’s link in @queercreativesspace bio on Instagram) from 1-3pm on September 10th. This programming is drop-in friendly, free, and no pre-registration is required. Queer Creatives Space sessions are intended for queer and trans folks, but questioning folks are more than welcome. This programming is also all ages friendly and part of a funded by Arts NS grant project that will run programming for queer and trans folks until June 2024. Masks are required to participate, but can be provided on site.
During this session, we’ll go over a few ways to fold and bind a zine, as well as interdisciplinary techniques to fill them in. Supplies for collage, illustration, and other zine goodies will be available to use. If you have some old magazine/ collage pieces at home you’d like to bring in, you’re more than welcome.
Snacks and hydration options will be provided. If someone also prefers to use the space to work on a personal project, that’s more than ok. We just ask that you bring your own materials in case we don’t have what you’re looking for. Also, please don’t bring projects that could potentially be sensory or space intensive.
