Brian William Hicks

July 20, 1956 - April 26, 2024

Born in Whitbourne, Newfoundland, Brian spent much of his life working in the IT field with the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia and Compass Communications (he spoke of his colleagues often!). Yet in contrast to the "office" life, Brian was a lover of nature and animals. Having recently moved to a more rural setting with new to Nova Scotia friends, Larry and Ben, Brian was experiencing a new lease on life as provincial tour guide and establishing his own animal sanctuary outside his new home. Spending many hours on his own perch outside watching the birds, squirrels, and rabbits, he also offered a welcome smile and hello to neighbours on the passing trail. The last 6 months, despite health challenges, saw a new spark in his eye and invigorated tone in his voice.

Brian left directions to support various not-for-profits that help others, specifically Feed Nova Scotia and Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank.

His wit and selflessness will not be forgotten.

On July 20, 2024, a gathering took place at Crystal Crescent Beach to say goodbye as we release Brian to the beauty of the waves he so loved, followed by fellowship at Larry & Bens.1
