Bedford United Church will become an Affirming Congregation

Bedford United Church (BUC) will hold a dedication service on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 10 am, as it becomes an Affirming Congregation by receiving a certificate from Affirm United. Everyone is welcome. Rev. Robert Johnson of St. Andrews, NB will be the guest speaker.

In becoming an affirming congregation, BUC has made the following statement:

We the people of Bedford United Church declare publicly our commitment to creating a community where all people are welcome regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, differing abilities, ethnic background or economic circumstance.

All persons are welcome to take part in every aspect of church life including membership, leadership, celebrating life passages and marriage.

Several members of the LGBT community are already active members of BUC’s congregation.
