Trying to track down GAE (which dormant for a few months at the time), I found a GAE newsletter in a gay community centre in Montreal. (I was working as a sleeping car porter and going to Montreal regularly from Halifax.) Seeing that GAE had been meeting at the Unitarian Church on Inglis, I tracked down the minister at the UCC, who put me in touch by phone with Tom Burns, and attending the play was my introduction to the gay community of Halifax. BobStout was one of the actors. After the play, my new friends took me to David's club, where I met MikeSangster. The rest is history - actually, it's all history.
