Established in 2003, Salaam Halifax was a chapter of Salaam Canada, a Canadian based organization dedicated to Muslims who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, those questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity, and their friends.
Salaam's mission was to provide a safe space and a forum for LGBTQ Muslims and their friends to address issues of common concern, share individual experiences, and institutional resources. Salaam aimed to support LGBTQ Muslims in reconciling their sexual orientation or gender identity with Islam.
