Rad Pride Halifax

Rad Pride Halifax/Kjipuktuk is an alternative Pride movement which positions itself in direct opposition to the corporate Halifax Pride festival.1 There may be some overlap with the similarly named RadPrideHalifax that existed from 2013 to 2023.

History

• July 3, 2025: A new RadPride appears with first Instagram post ("enough corporations, enough pinkwashing. we are all we have.")
• July 8, 2025: First event; hosted 2025 RadPride QueerLiberationPanel
• February 20, 2026: General Meeting posted from the Instagram account
• July, 2026: 2026 Events Poster. An organizer writes, "this year it was queer-friendly events taking place during Halifax Pride Week as an all-ages + sober alternative to mainstream pride events (this year we had a drag show, comedy show, queercore music show, sober dance party, march/rally and a community fair). we also do some political disruption/agitation, and organize a dyke&trans march. we're looking to stay more active during the year, specifically to organize more politically oriented events as well as all-around community-building."2
