Richard Rockhard is one of Halifax’s celebrated Drag Kings.
Hailing from Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Richard (he/him) is a queer artist, advocate, elder, and performing powerhouse—with nearly eight years under his sequined belt. His artistry blends storytelling, live singing, and pure charm, bringing deep representation and emotional resonance to the stage.
A seasoned pageant judge and multi-title holder locally, Richard blazed trails as the first Drag King in Atlantic Canada ever shortlisted in The Coast’s “Best Drag Performer” competition—and continues to be nominated, pushing boundaries and earning respect for Kings in drag.
You might catch him hosting The Sunday Night Drag Show at Stardust Bar, headlining Drag Brunch at Old Triangle, or co-hosting Drag On The Mainstage during Halifax Pride. Wherever he goes, Richard is part of the community, not just performing but uplifting voices and spaces.
