Here are some of the spots to look for quick and anonymous sex in Halifax. You'll find a variety of guys from students to sailors to married dudes to veteran gay guys -- something for everyone. This is just one way of MeetingPeople of course.
You'll want to check out CruisingProtocols to see exactly how you hook up with someone.
There is a whole separate page for OutdoorCruisingAreas.
Here are some for indoors:
- Public Washrooms:
- Maritime Mall B2 (Food Court) level. April 2004 note: v. busy
- Scotia Square
- February, 2010: the mall cops are on active fag purge from Scotia Square and Barrington Place. They will watch your comings and going on camera and they will use the "you come in and go from washroom to washroom and don't buy anything" excuse to kick you out. Be careful. Don't fight them, especially if you didn't get caught doing anything illegal. It's usually a fat Paul Blartt type who does the kicking out. You'll get barred for 180 days. Don't give them your real name or address, don't give them your ID and don't be afraid of them. Just take the notice and go. There's better pickings elsewhere.
- Park Lane
- Dalhousie A&A Bldg 2nd Floor
- City Center Atlantic
- Bedford Place Mall
- Bedford Place Mall Zellers Bathroom (camera monitored, go elsewhere)
- Bedford Superstore
- Sunnyside Mall - upstairs.
- Halifax Shopping Centre 1st floor(bathrooms have changed, making cruising next to impossible here)
- Annapolis Valley Clairmont Park Charm Diamond Center
- Bath: SeaDogsSauna - see BathHouse for a description of what goes on in a bath. At other than the baths, please be discreet, both for politeness and safety reasons.
Risks
There are risks with anything. Cruising area risks include:
- If you're in the closet (about being gay or about anonymous sex or about being monogamous) there are risks of being discovered.
- There is a small risk of violence in the outdoor places and possibly in the indoor places too.
- Some people count disease as a risk but that really has to do with the activity and the number of partners.
- At anything other than the baths, there is a risk of getting arrested.
Historical
- RobinMetcalfe writes: the moat-like gap between the basement of City Hall and the Grand Parade, running off of Barrington Street, used to house (in the 40s, maybe?) two facilities, I was told years ago: a small police office (nearer the street) and a very active men's washroom (deeper in). Guys cruising the washroom would have to pass in and out past the police detachment.
