Healing from Conversion “Therapy”
Sexual orientation and gender expression change efforts (SOCIECE) are dangerous. While they are now illegal across Canada, these practices remain a significant risk to the health and well-being of people in 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. New national resources are being developed to aid clinicians in supporting survivors' recovery from the harms of these practices.
The Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) invites our members and our community to join Naj Siritsky, RSW, who will share from their first-hand perspective and a clinical framework:
* an overview of the different types of conversion “therapy” and SOGIECE
* information about some of the clinical resources under development in Canada
* an overview of several therapeutic modalities that may be considered for survivors of SOGIECE
Service providers are the primary audience for this virtual lunch & learn, but it may also be of interest to people seeking help for themselves or their loved ones.
Free for NSCSW members, $5 for others.
