2024-11-27 Places Workshop
On November 27, 2024, Defining Moments Canada sponsored a workshop to identify a short list of places that were important to our community up until the end of the 1970s, as part of their Proud To Be project.
NathanElling and DanielMacKay invited nine other elders to a "High Tea" at the UnitarianUniversalistChurch.
The results of the discussion will be used in a couple of places, including the Defining Moments Canada “Proud To Be” project, creating a map of important LGBT places across Canada.
Chef Nathan provided gourmet high tea with everything handmade including: Cucumber sandwiches with cream cheese • Smoked Salmon sandwiches with watercress dressing • Egg salad sandwiches • Curried chicken in puff pastry • Lavender cookies • Strawberry scones with clotted cream • Fresh melon, pear, apple and grape with white chocolate/mango leaves • Crudités with hummus.
The event was sponsored by Defining Moments Canada, a Canadian heritage organization dedicated to commemorating “definitional moments” in Q history.
Participants: BarendKamperman, DrBobFredrickson, BryanGarnettDoucette, CarolynGesner, GingerAmbrose?, LynnMurphy, NathanElling, RandGaynor, SandiMacNutt?, and EdSlade. Many hadn't seen each other for decades.
