Queendom Film Screening
(Film in Russian with English subtitles.)
Join us for a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Queendom, presented by the Russian Canadian Democratic Alliance (RCDA). First time in Halifax!
Gena, a queer artist from a small town in Russia, stages radical performances in public that become a new form of art and activism – and put her life in danger. In bold defiance of Russia’s anti-LGBTQ laws, Gena Marvin, a queer 21-year-old performance artist, transforms the streets of Moscow into surreal and radical public art. Her performances are a striking fusion of self-expression and protest – risking arrest, violence, and exile.
Queendom (an SXSW Official Selection) follows Gena’s journey from a small Russian town to the center of international queer resistance. This screening celebrates queer creativity, courage, and defiance around the world – and stands in solidarity with those fighting for freedom under repression.
Tickets: Free with registration.

4:00 p.m.
The Princess Show - All Ages Matinee
HEIST’s fan favourite and critically acclaimed The Princess Show is celebrating 10 years of delighting audiences with wild, campy, love-filled queer joy!
The fun kicks off with a special homecoming presentation beginning with a 4pm all-ages matinee performance.
The Princess Show is HEIST’s original fully lip synched live-action anime drag musical extravaganza. This wonderfully weird show was created by Aaron Collier, RichieWilcox, and Deonie Hudson in 2016 and the work premiered with Theatre Outré in Lethbridge, Alberta. The founders of HEIST (Aaron Colliier & Richie Wilcox) perform as their beloved characters Princess Edward and Abel T. Suckizone in this quest to surmount depression in a dystopian fantasy world. Princess Edward’s battle with her inner demons is made literal in this fable in which a strange and soothing beast kidnaps her lover Abel and holds him in a disconnected trance. Will Princess rise to the challenge of radical self love to save her beloved? As one reviewer put it, “the show is a great, big, visually striking celebration of queer identity and learning to love yourself.”
Tickets: Available online.

Queer Movement Townhall: Building Queer Power
2SLGBTQIA+ rights are under attack and we need to take action. Freedom, human rights, and democracy itself are at stake. To respond to these crises, we need to engage all parts of the queer movement - one community and one conversation, at a time.
That’s why we are bringing the movement together through townhall events across Canada - including one right here in Halifax. This gathering is a wake up call, a rallying point. We’re going to bring joy back to the queer movement — with love, humour, rage and defiance too.
But we can’t do it alone, or in isolation. We need to connect local struggles back into a national movement, to empower grassroots activists and build plans to uphold our rights and reject attacks on our community.
Join two of Canada’s leading trans activists (and trouble-makers) Fae Johnstone (Executive Director of Queer Momentum and movement veteran) and Victoria Bucholtz (Executive Director of TransAction Alberta, drag queen, comic, and professor) alongside local movement leaders you know and love for an afternoon of fiery speeches, discussion, queer joy, and advocacy planning.
Registration online, via Eventbrite.

333 – The Toronto Bathhouse Raids
A new Canadian play by Jay Whitehead, Directed by GarryWilliams, in partnership with DaPoPo Theatre. Read Wayves article about this play.
333 – The Toronto Bathhouse Raids is a gripping theatrical work that brings to life the events of February 5, 1981, when one of the largest mass arrests in Canadian history sparked a national reckoning. 333 captures the fear, defiance, and resilience of a community pushed to the brink—and the uprising that helped ignite Canada’s modern 2SLGBTQIA+ rights movement. Bold, urgent, and deeply human, it asks what it means to be seen, to be targeted, and to fight back. Please note, this production contains mature themes, staged violence, and full frontal nudity.
Tickets: Starting at $25.

Halifax Naked Ride & March
A fun free-spirited tradition that has been held locally for over a decade (and globally for even longer!), where attendees are welcome to strip down and shed their shame as they take to the city streets in celebration of our natural world and the beauty of all bodies! You can Ride or March, whether with your bike 🚲, wheelchair, scooter, or your own two feet; whatever gets your body moving! Come join in or show your support by cheering us on! In a time when so many bodies are policed or made the subject of political rhetoric and autonomy taken away, one of the many positive messages we want to promote is that nudity should not be viewed as inherently sexual, but rather should be accepted as a beautiful part of life and a symbol of freedom.
Our goal is to have 100 attendees this year! So spread the word and get excited! 🎉
For more information, you can join our Discord or reach us via email at HalifaxNakedPeace@Gmail.com.
And if you're interested in helping out, we can always use more volunteers! ❤️
More details will follow later!
